My 1970 MG Midget 1275
Blinking in the sunlight the poor old girl has been shut away in this garage since 1990. Parked up in here when the owner became ill having just had a replacement recondition unleaded engine fitted.
Time for a new beginning
Ready for a full mechanical overhaul
She now has a name Millie.
Millie has just undergone an extensive mechanical refurbishment. I should have taken some photo’s and will do so. Full suspension strip down front and rear with all new bushes. Steering rack strip down as someone had put a load of grease in it Urgh! New brake callipers, discs, pads flexi hoses on the front. New shoes and slave cylinders on the back. Pedal box removed striped and lubricated, new clutch slave rubbers.
Petrol tank removed, fully refurbished with new sender
Replacement Minilite style alloy wheels and tyres. Millie now residing in my new garage with its new PVC floor tiles, great to work on.
Replacement fuel pipe hoses E10 safe throughout
Carburettors stripped down and lubricated. Fuel pump stripped down and points cleaned. Distributer points cleaned and gapped. Engine started runs a treat.
MIllie’s first run in 35 years. Refurbished steering incredibly light and responsive. Runs great though gearbox noisy. Suspect damage to first gear. Will require strip down and overhaul.
Alternator conversion as dynamo not charging new belt fitted
Next job for Millie is bonnet and wings off, engine and gearbox out, Ready for engine bay restoration and gearbox reconditioning.
